Young Harris College and Georgia Military College Pleased to Announce Partnership

Young Harris College (YHC) and Georgia Military College (GMC) have made it easier for GMC graduates to continue their education, working toward earning a baccalaureate degree. The articulation agreement, established March 9, 2023, created an educational partnership to better serve currently enrolled and future students at both institutions by creating a smooth transition for students transferring from GMC to Young Harris.

“We are excited about this new partnership with GMC and look forward to welcoming their students to Young Harris,” said Dr. Joy Hamm, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management at Young Harris College. “YHC is confident we will help these transfer students continue their forward growth on their way to becoming a positive force of change in their communities and the world.”

Under the agreement, students graduating from GMC with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 will be guaranteed general admission into Young Harris College. Georgia Military College students will transfer into Young Harris College with their core course work complete, enabling them to earn their baccalaureate degree in less time

While the agreement guarantees GMC students general admission into YHC, students may still be required to meet standards specific to select majors or programs that are competitively based or have admission and course requirements beyond the minimum for the institution.  Students who have not completed core or pre-requisites for admission to specific majors or programs of study at Young Harris will be required to complete them before being considered for admission into a specific major or program of study. Georgia Military College transfer students may complete such requirements at Young Harris College.

“This agreement provides a seamless pathway for GMC students to continue pursuing their educational goals at Young Harris,” said Dr. Christopher Babb, Vice President of Institutional Research, Planning, & Effectiveness at GMC. “This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen our partnership and commitment to creating opportunities for student success as we work together to prepare the next generation of leaders.”

Young Harris will accept transfer credit in accordance with the institution’s policies, rules, practices, and mission as a liberal arts institution, as well as those of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. This agreement is open to all Georgia Military College students regardless of race, color, religion, gender, age, creed, national origin or disability.
