Georgia Military College Appoints New Chief of Police

Georgia Military College (GMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jackie Lee as the new Chief of Police for the Institution. Lee will assume the position effective immediately.

Lee has over 20 years of law enforcement experience at Georgia Military College. She started her GMC career as a Security Officer and was later promoted to Security Lieutenant after becoming POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) certified. She went on to become Campus Police Lieutenant, and she most recently served as Captain of the GMC police force working under Chief James Hodnett. After his retirement in late 2022, Lee was named Interim Chief of Police. Lee is also an Adjunct Instructor and teaches Criminal Justice classes for GMC Junior College, inspiring others who may take on a future role in law enforcement.

In her new role, Lee will oversee all of GMC Campus Police and will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the GMC community. Lee will also work closely with local law enforcement agencies to ensure that the campus remains a safe and welcoming environment for all.

“We are delighted to have Jackie Lee as the permanent Chief of Police at Georgia Military College,” said President of Georgia Military College, Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, USA (Ret). “Her experience, leadership, and commitment to excellence make her the best candidate to lead our police force and ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.”

“I am excited and truly blessed to be chosen as the next Campus Police Chief for Georgia Military College, said Lee. “In my 20 years, I have been blessed to work with such a wonderful group of Staff and Faculty. I look forward to serving and protecting the staff, faculty, and students here at GMC for many years.”

Lee’s appointment as Chief of Police for Georgia Military College marks a significant milestone for the college and women in law enforcement, as Lee is the first female Police Chief in Georgia Military College’s history. Her leadership and expertise will undoubtedly benefit the entire GMC community, and we are excited to name her Chief of Police during Women’s History Month.
