Georgia Military College Awards 82^nd Airborne Division’s “All-American” Chorus with Scholarships

Community members weren’t the only ones in for a treat on Thursday night. The 82^nd Airborne Division’s “All-American” Chorus performed a free public concert for the Milledgeville community at Georgia Military College.

Following the performance, Georgia Military College President, Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, USA (Ret.), presented all 28 paratrooper performers with a $1,500 scholarship to attend Georgia Military Global Online Leadership College totaling $42,000.

The 82^nd Airborne Division is an active airborne infantry division of the United States Army specializing in joint forcible entry operations. Based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 82^nd Airborne Division is the primary fighting arm of the XVIII Airborne Corps. The 82^nd Division was organized on August 25th, 1917, at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Since its initial members came from all 48 states, the unit acquired the nickname “All-American,” which is the basis for its famed “AA” shoulder patch. The division later served in World War II where, in August 1942, it was reconstituted as the first airborne division of the U.S. Army and fought in numerous campaigns during the war.

This is one way that we can do that so that military members serving our nation can continue to develop as leaders in their personal lives and careers.”
