Patriotic Ceremonies
Georgia Military College is devoted to strengthening the love our students have for their country. To this end, students at the Milledgeville campus are afforded opportunities to affirm their loyalty to their nation, and to reflect on the fundamental importance of our nation’s founding principles by taking part in frequent military parades, command retreats, the annual Grand Tattoo, and other ceremonies.
Students attend “Command Retreats” prior to selected national holidays to formally pay their respects to the American Flag as it is taken down at the end of the day and to reflect on the meaning and purpose of each national holiday.
Each year in April the President of Georgia Military College (GMC) invites students, faculty, staff, and friends of the college to attend the annual “Grand Tattoo”. During this formal ceremony, members of the college and the community join to pay their respects to the National Colors and listen to a guest military band present a concert honoring the nation and the American Flag. Following the ceremony, guests join the President in a reception where the leaders of our nation are toasted and the history of the college is celebrated.
Military parades are conducted throughout the academic year to promote patriotism and recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves in their academic and military studies.

Academic Excellence.
Since 1879.
We’ve been educating bright minds for well over a century. That’s why a degree from GMC means more than just a great education. It means success.
