GMC and Massanutten Military Academy Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Georgia Military College and Massanutten Military Academy
Sign Memorandum of Understanding

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – Georgia Military College (GMC) and Massanutten Military Academy (MMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes a formal academic transfer mechanism between GMC and MMA. Its purpose is so that any student who graduates from MMA with a general, college preparatory or technical diploma is guaranteed admission into GMC provided that the student meets the agreement requirements. In addition to MMA, GMC also has Memorandum of Understanding agreements with Riverside Military Academy, North Valley Military Institute, Admiral Farragut Academy, Oak Ridge Military Academy, Fishburne Military School, Hargrave Military Academy, and St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy.

This agreement formally recognizes that GMC and MMA are committed to the establishment of an educational partnership to better serve currently enrolled and future students at both institutions. Both parties agree to exercise due diligence in providing as smooth a transition as possible for students who elect to attend GMC following graduation from MMA.

Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, USA (Ret.), President of Georgia Military College, says this agreement provides a great opportunity for MMA graduates.

“Pursuing higher educational opportunities is of great importance and we’re proud to offer that at GMC,” Caldwell said. “Through this partnership with Massanutten Military Academy, their graduates will be able to make a smooth transition from high school to college. At GMC, they will be challenged in rigorous academics, learn how to be a leader, and they’ll live by our motto, ‘Character Above All.’ We’re excited for the opportunity to work with graduates from Massanutten Military Academy.”

Kim Elshafie-Layman, Head of School at Massanutten Military Academy, says GMC’s values align with those of MMA.

“We are pleased to partner with Georgia Military College and offer this opportunity to our cadets,” Elshafie-Layman said. “GMC is an institution that represents the same focus on academics and character development that we do at Massanutten Military Academy. Georgia Military College is our latest partnership for guaranteed admissions with colleges and universities across the United States.”

The Memorandum of Understanding between GMC and MMA goes into effect immediately.
