Georgia Military College Prep School to Add Third Grade

Georgia Military College Preparatory School is excited to announce the addition of third grade to its elementary program. On September 28, 2018, the GMC Board of Trustees approved the proposal to add a third grade level to the Prep School. Earlier this year, GMC Prep added fourth and fifth grade, and in 2019, will welcome the third grade as well. Chairman of the GMC Board of Trustees, Randy New, says this was an easy decision for the board.

“We knew when we added fourth and fifth grade that adding third would be the next natural step,” New said. “Even though we’re not even half way through the school year, we can see how well fourth and fifth grade is doing at GMC Prep School, so when Colonel Grant and her team brought the third grade proposal to the board, we didn’t hesitate to push this forward. We wanted to streamline our elementary grades to mirror those already established in the community, to give the best options to parents.”

In the 2019-2020 school year, GMC Prep will have two classes each of third grade, fourth grade and fifth grade students. Colonel Pam Grant, Principal of GMC Prep School, has experienced a lot of change in her 33 years at the school but says this is one of the most exciting changes.

“I cannot contain my excitement when it comes to this new grade level,” Grant said. “When we added fourth and fifth grade, I was so excited then. But to now complete those elementary grades with adding the third, I’m just over the moon. This is about creating opportunities for the children of our community, and this is something the community has wanted for a long time, so we’re really excited to bring in these new third graders.”

GMC Prep School will make School Year 2019-2020 applications available for third and fourth grade students beginning in January 2019. Only 40 students will be accepted at each grade level. For the upcoming school year, fifth grade has already been filled with the current fourth graders, however, interested parents may place their child’s name on a waiting list and will be notified if any slots become available.

The Prep School is also thrilled to announce the addition of a new program, the “Future Bulldog” Student Reservation Program. This program gives parents the opportunity to reserve a seat for their child/children at any grade level – elementary, middle, or high school – for any year in the future with a reservation deposit of $500.00 This deposit will be directly applied to the student’s first year’s tuition once they begin at the Prep School.

Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell IV, President of Georgia Military College, says this is an exciting time for GMC Prep School, and for the community.

“To be able to provide this opportunity for our community is a blessing,” Caldwell said. “With the third grade being the natural transition to elementary grades, this is a welcome addition. We of course want all of our students to succeed at GMC Prep School, and by adding this new grade level, it will provide a smooth transition.  And third grade really is the perfect age to begin to instill character, service to others and expose them to the fine arts and challenging academic curriculum when it comes to school. We’re very excited about this addition!”
