GMC Prep School recognizes 46 Cadets during 2nd Battalion Summer Recognition Ceremony
On Monday, August 29, Georgia Military College’s (GMC) Prep School recognized 46 Cadets during their 2nd Battalion Summer Recognition Ceremony.
The ceremony recognized students who participated and excelled in a variety of summer military leadership camps. Students spent part of their summer at Junior Air Rifle Team Camp, West Point United States Military Academy, Coast Guard Academy, JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp, and at Fort Benning.
The 2016 CMP Junior Air Rifle Camp in Anniston, Alabama focused on fundamentals of marksmanship, individual coaching for shooters and a 3X20 rifle competition. More than 30 high schools were in attendance with 170 top shooters. GMC had 3 cadets at the camp who had 100% completion. Cadet William Peacock was ranked 10th overall in the Advanced Standing Camp. Cadet Luke Rutherford shot a new personal best of 527. Cadet Grayson See ranked 2nd overall in the 3X20 Air Rifle Competition. See was also a Bronze Medal recipient at the camp.
Cadets Alyssa Easley and Niko Urias were recognized for their involvement at the Coast Guard Academy. Cadets Will Caldwell and Chase Sheffield were also recognized for their involvement at West Point United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
4- GMC Prep Cadets attended camp at Fort Benning. They jumped out of a 34-foot tower at Airborne School and observed a live tank battle demo at Armour School. The 4-Cadets who attended camp at Fort Benning include:

14- High Schools and 250 JROTC Cadets attended the four day JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) Camp in June at GMC’s Milledgeville campus. 43- GMC
Prep students were in attendance as the largest group of Cadets to ever attend JCLC Camp with 100% completion. The cadets participated in various events such as: Physical Training exercises, rappelling, canoeing, and a leader’s reaction course. The following GMC Cadets earned awards at camp:
Cadet Davis Isley- Most Improved, Basic Cadet Leadership Award- Alpha Co
Cadet Chase Rauhut- Advanced Cadet Leadership Award- Bravo Co
Cadet Hailey Wilkerson- Most Improved, Basic Cadet Leadership Award- Charlie Co
Cadet Trevor Yeager- Most Improved, Advanced Cadet Leadership Award- Charlie Co
Cadet Niko Urias- Advanced Cadet Leadership Award- Delta Co
Cadet Anna Caldwell- Basic Cadet Leadership Award- Delta co
Cadet Jack Watkins- Camp Commander’s Advanced Cadet Leadership Award (the #1 Cadet at JCLC Camp)
