Mr. Richard H. Brown to speak during Military Honors Parade
Featuring the 137th Corps of Cadets, Georgia Military College will host a Military Honors Parade on Friday, March 18, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. on Grant Parade. The parade will recognize cadets receiving distinguished military honors. The guest speaker will be Mr. Richard H. Brown, former Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Corporation. A public company when Brown led the enterprise, EDS had information technology, system integration and consulting business in 60 countries with a workforce of 130,000 professionals. Revenues exceeded $21 Billion in 2003.

Former Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Corporation from 1998 to 2003. A public company when Brown led the enterprise, EDS had information technology, system integration and consulting business in 60 countries with a workforce of 130,000 professionals. Revenues exceeded $21 Billion in 2003.
Before Brown’s tenure at EDS, he was C.E.O. of Cable & Wireless (C&W) PLC based in London and served as a member of its Board of Directors. At C&W, a global telecommunications company, he engineered a series of alliances, acquisitions and divestitures that brought the company into cable television and made it a major player in internet technology.
Prior to C&W, he was President and C.E.O. of H&R Block and a member of the Board of Directors. Brown was the first non-family member to run the world’s premier tax preparation company, serving 18 million taxpayers around the world.
Brown was in the telecommunications industry for more than 28 years holding a number of executive level positions, including Vice Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Chicago-based Ameritech Corporation; President and C.E.O. of Illinois Bell Telephone Company; and Executive Vice President of Sprint Corporation.
Mr. Brown is Chairman of the Board of The Chemours Company. Chemours is a world-wide provider of performance chemicals including, Titanium Dioxide, Floroproducts Refrigerants, and numerous chemical products used in the production of gold, oil refining, and agriculture. Chemours serves 5,000 customers in 130 countries and has 9000 employees. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Browz Group LLC headquartered in Draper, Utah. Browz is a global provider of supplier management services.
He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Southern Methodist University and a past Vice Chairman of the Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees. Brown has been awarded Honorary Doctorate degrees from both Ohio University and James Madison University. He has also served on the Board of Directors of DuPont; The Home Depot; The Seagram Co.; Vivendi (France); Pharmacia (Sweden); and is past Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong Telecom and Compuserve.
Brown is a former member of the Business Council; the Business Roundtable; the President’s Advisory Committee on Trade and Policy Negotiations; the U.S.-Japan Business Council; the French-American Business Council; and the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1947, Brown earned a Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude from Ohio University in 1969. He and his wife Chris, have two adult children, Ryan Brown of Rumson, N.J. and Allison Flynn of Hingham, MA.
The Browns reside in Boca Grande, Florida; Sag Harbor, New York; Sandbar Island, Maine; and The Bar Diamond Ranch, Billings, Montana.
