GMC Prep students attend Jimmie Dyess Symposium

Forty-eight Georgia Military College Prep students, representing the leadership of the high school battalion, recently attended the 5th Annual Jimmie Dyess Symposium in Augusta, Ga.  These students were invited to spend time with the guest speaker, Major General Perry Smith, and the four individuals who received the 2015 Jimmie Dyess Distinguished American Award:  Medal of Honor recipient COL Barney Barnum, Ms. Susan E. Eisenhower, the granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and two extraordinary citizens of Augusta, Mr. Brian Meulherin and Mrs. Neita Mulherin.

The symposium was created and developed to recognize Jimmie Dyess, a native Augustan, for his courage as both a citizen and soldier of the United States and to identify others who have shown similar valor or made civic contributions above and beyond the call of duty.
