Gregg Awarded Whitey Zimmerman Scholarship

Georgia Military College Prep School senior Amanda Gregg was recently given the Whitey Zimmerman Scholar/Manager award, a $1,000 scholarship presented to the top two Scholar/Managers from each of the Georgia High School Association’s five regions. Corporate sponsors of this award include Chevron/Texaco, the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation, Gallagher Electric & Engineering Company, Inc., the National Football Foundation, and the College Football Hall of Fame, Inc. The honorees are selected on the basis of 40 percent academic achievement, 40 percent football managing achievement and 20 percent community leadership.

The late Whitey Zimmerman was the equipment manager for the Atlanta Falcons for over 25 years. The National Football League honored Mr. Zimmerman by naming the award given to the top equipment manager in the league in his memory.
