GMC High School Senior Tabb McGill and Teacher Nancy Kennedy Receive STAR Awards

Georgia Military College High School senior Tabb McGill was acknowledged as a top academic scholar in Baldwin County, during the Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program held at the Milledgeville Country Club on Thursday, February 27, 2003.
Mr. McGill was honored with a $500 scholarship and plaque in recognition of holding the highest SAT score among his peers at Georgia Military College. Mr. McGill chose Mrs. Nancy Kennedy as his STAR teacher, stating, “She has been a true inspiration to me, especially in the art of English and her classroom has been a ‘home away from home’ for me.” Mrs. Kennedy was honored with a plaque and a cash award from the Chamber of Commerce and the sponsors of the program.
Tabb McGill is currently the battalion executive officer and holds the rank of major. He, along with the battalion commander, controls the activities and training of the entire cadet high school battalion. He is active in the National Honor Society, Special Olympics, JROTC Summer Camp, Youth Leadership Baldwin, and is a member of the GMC high school varsity soccer team. Tabb has received every academic award GMC has to offer, and his more prestigious JROTC awards include: Scottish Rite Award – presented to one cadet annually for outstanding academic achievement and community service; Sons of the American Revolution Medal – presented for displaying the highest degree of merit, soldierly bearing and academic excellence; Superior Cadet Decoration – presented to the top JROTC and academic cadet in his class. Tabb McGill plans to attend The University Honors College at Auburn in the fall. He is the son of Tim and Teri McGill of Milledgeville, GA.
