New Coaches Hired

GMC Announces Hiring of New Soccer, Softball Coaches

GMC Junior College Athletic Director announced today that Ms. Kelly Zeilstra and Mr. Stepan Bardizbanian have accepted open positions within the College Athletic Department for the coming year.

Ms. Kelly Zeilstra comes to GMC from Troy University, where she was the first assistant ladies softball coach. Ms. Zeilstra received her bachelor degree from the University of Iowa where she also lettered in both soccer and softball. She earned her masters degree at Georgia College &State University while coaching softball for the Lady Bobcats. Coach Zeilstra was also a member of the Canadian National Softball Team for nine years. She will take over as the head coach for both Women’s Soccer and Women’s Softball at GMC.

Mr. Stepan Bardizbanian is coming on board as the head coach for Men’s Soccer at GMC. Coach Bardizbanian has been a citizen of Milledgeville for over fifteen years and has been extremely active and successful in coaching youth soccer in our area. Coach Bardizbanian will be undertaking his first collegiate head coaching position, but brings a wealth of experience of coaching and playing on the professional level from his native country of Bulgaria.

Bert Williams, GMC Intercollegiate Athletics Director, commented, “We are extremely excited to be able to bring such accomplished coaches into our athletics department at GMC. The experiences and qualifications that both of these coaches bring to GMC will be invaluable in the continued development and success of our programs. The future is very bright for our soccer and softball programs in the junior college. I cannot wait to see them in action.”
