Cadets take top honors at ROTC Leader’s Training Course

GMC Cadets take top honors at ROTC Leader’s Training Course

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.– Congratulations to the 48 Georgia Military College cadets who recently graduated from the US Army Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Cadet Michael Ansley received the Reserve Officer’s Association Award which is presented to one cadet in each company for military excellence, leadership, and moral character.

Cadet Dexter Higgs received the COMTEK Warrior Award, which is presented to the top cadet with the highest cumulative scores in the record Army Physical Fitness Test, land navigation, and basic weapons marksmanship.

Cadet Robert Moehnke received the Rifle Marksmanship Top Scorer Award, which is presented to one cadet in each company who achieves the highest score on the rifle range during basic rifle marksmanship.

The following cadets received the Gauntlet Award, which is presented to those cadets scoring at or above the company average on all of the following events -Army Physical Fitness Test, land navigation, and basic rifle marksmanship: Michael Ansley, Thomas Bearden, Jonathan Fortner, Dexter Higgs, and Grant Powers.

The following cadets received the BDFT 270 Club Award, which is presented to those cadets who score 270 and above on the final Army Physical Fitness Test: Thomas Bearden, Michael Ansley, Ambiorix Delacruz, Brittni Harrington, and Grant Powers.

The Leader’s Training Course (LTC) is the premier leadership program of its kind in the United States. An intense four-week introduction to Army life and leadership training of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, the aim of the course is to motivate and qualify cadets for entry into the Senior ROTC program.

While attending LTC at Fort Knox, Ky., Cadets gain an experience that runs the gamut of Army life and the responsibilities of being an officer. The course instills confidence and decision-making abilities to become a leader, in the Army and in life.
