Del Webb Lake Oconee Veterans Club Present Scholarships to GMC Cadets

Georgia Military College hosted the Del Webb Lake Oconee Veterans Club on Monday, August 23, 2021, for a scholarship presentation that awarded four GMC Corps of Cadets members a $500.00 scholarship from the Del Webb Lake Oconee Veterans Club. This scholarship presentation was special as it demonstrated continued leadership in the community and commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.

The four scholarship recipients are as follows:

Cadet August Curcio, Cumming, GA Cadet Curcio is a first-year non-sponsored Service Academy Prep Scholar seeking an Associate of Science Degree in General Studies and an appointment to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Cadet Daniel Turnipseed, Ridgeway, SC Cadet Turnipseed is a second-year Army ROTC Cadet seeking an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a commission in the U.S. Army next May; he is also the captain of the Junior College Cross Country Team.

Cadet Margaret Smith, Milton, GA Cadet Smith is a first-year Service Prep Cadet seeking an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies and an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy; she is also a member of the Junior College Women’s Soccer Team.

Cadet Cameron Hoagland, Pooler, GA Cadet Hoagland is a first-year Service Prep Cadet seeking an Associate of Science Degree in General Studies and an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy.

“These Cadets were chosen for this scholarship because of their leadership potential, proven academic success, and strength in character,” said GMC Executive Director, COL Nelson Kraft, USA (Ret.). “GMC teaches ‘Character Above All,’ and we are proud of what these Cadets are doing and will continue to do as servant leaders to this great nation. GMC is honored and thankful for the Del Webb Lake Oconee Veterans Club supporting the GMC Corps of Cadets.”
